Study Abroad, what college is closest to the best surf?

Hey, I want to go abroad to a university in australia next year, from february to june. What University has the best location for a beginner/intermediate surfer from USA east coast (new jersey)?

I am studying abroad in Perth, at the University of Western Australia. I'm also from the USA, Chicago, and I want to learn how to surf too. Rumor has it Perth is a great surfing spot...

hey.  I reckon you should maybe try the east coast (Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast etc).  Perth is miles from anywhere so you will be 'stuck' there (its the most remote city in the world...apparently).
There are plenty of different breaks along the east coast that are suited to all levels of surfers (and there are more universities to choose from).
So, personally i would recommend the east coast.
