« on: February 07 2006 12:02:00 »

Hey guys,

Planning a global surf/snow travel trip and Ozzy is a must on my list. Ive surfed Byron before but want to explore around a bit more, wheres the creme de la creme? And whats the best time of year to head out for the best surf?

When to go depends on the location.
Top places are: Kirra, Burleigh Heads, Noosa, Bells etc.
But expect a large crowd of very good surfers, that ain't to much into sharing with visitors.

Im from brisbane australia and I much prefer the sunshine coast to the gold coast, mainly coz less crowds and less visitors (even tho during the summer all beaches all over australia are crowded on hot day as this is the ultimate ausie lifestyle) rent a car and go to all the unknown beaches. go to mudjimba usually quality. Your best to start at one end of the coast and work your way down or up. Take the last turn off before byron (when driving south) Brunswick heads.niiiiicce. Also if your in brissi take the ferry over to stradbroke island nice beaches there. North straddie (stradbroke) is very rarely a dud.

In Victoria, Autumnm is by far the best time. This is when the rip curl pro is on at Bell's too, so you can see some pros going at it! Water's a bit chilly after Summer though, so bring a 3:2 or a 4:3 wetty to cope.

Best surf in Oz is SW Western Australia, but only for intermediates to advanced. Autumn and Spring is best, otherwise North NSW to Gold Coast from Feb-June.
