the cyclone went strait over my in-laws place. Luckily the roof stayed on and no-one was hurt. their crops are pretty much gone though.
This was one of those bastard cyclones. No waves but plenty of damage.
Unfortuanately cyclone Wati is starting to intensify and it looks like it will hit the qld coast just south of the last one.

Glad to hear you and your loved ones are allright, but gawd, that crop damage ! Finally some coverage here are ABC. Well, at least your PM and emergency crews are working to help. I guess we can expect more of these storms due to global warming. Stay safe and is there any way we can help out?

yeah the cyclone was crazy.. me and my parents were at our property approximately 50km north of Cairns.they had only recently purchased the place and were due to move up permanately in the next six months.. we copped the full grunt of it laying down in our shed... most insane thing ever.....part of the roof blew away but luckily we had supported all of the walls b4 it hit...i think if we were outside we would been dead for sure cause there was just so much stuff flying around... sounded like a bomb going off when a tree fell onto one of our other sheds only about 30 metres away..had the dogs, birds and the random cat that just suddenly appeared b4 the storm i

n our shed as well and they were equalley as shaken... the cat was very random as there is no one round for ages and is was as if the cat turned up for protection from the storm and knew it was coming... one of our tractors actually tipped over which proves how strong the wind was... we did not have any major crop growing at this stage although suffered significant damage to fences and gear and our house was totalley destroyed.. we had expected the house would not last through any major storm due to its age and poor condition thats why we were in the shed...my parents were about to strat renovating it very soon...anyway things are cleaning up here and in the end are lucky that the family and animals are all safe...cheers....
