Howzit?  I am leaving honolulu to spend about 16 days surfing the west coast of australia and I was wondering how easy it is to just pull over and camp around the area.   Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey man,
Down south around the margaret river/ yallingup area there are heaps of zones for camping around, however you will get fined if you get caught camping out of the zones... Off the beaten track however you can camp where ever... We often go over to rottnest island and just camp on the beach, however you can get fined doing this aswell, but we have not as of yet... enjoy fella!!!!

you have to book in advance in the holidays so you can be sure your gonna get a camp ground, but camping in west oz isnt like you would think, snakes, spiders, miles away from help, so make sure ur prepared mate, and the waves are just as heavy here than they are in hawaii, hold downs at some spots are 20 to 30 seconds on 8 foot days

I spent 6 months in a camper around west oz. Free camping is like playing cat and mouse with the rangers. Its well worth it though - loads of nice spots. Show respect to the environment and leave no trace of your being there. I got caught twice in 6 months but played the innocent English traveller with my 4 year old daughter so got no fines. You'll definately run in to trouble around margs though - may have to use one of the 3 campsites and forkout a few dollers. Cheers.

luke luke luke ur back again mate giving out false info thinking u r de man. as long as u got petrol and water u r set . there is never any one that far away and the snakes and spiders arent that bad. as far as margs go there is plenty of places u can camp and not get caught. the river mouth is like a bloody cpark after 700pm and if u dont wanna go there then there is plenty of crown land scrub which has no rangers. station rd cpark goes off though so dont b a tight wad and pay the $
