I can't answer the question for the goldcoast but I can answer for down in NSW. Because summer is so bloody hot the beaches get quite crowded and the best places are usually up at the central coast (had a great surf there last new years) or the south coast. We generally have high pressure systems floating around that time of year around here meaning it's hot and the surf can be flat depending where you are so part of it is just blind luck!!

you should definitly try the goldcoast and try the most popular places like ummm....... surfers paradise lol but dont forget that there are a lot of little towns that have a loy of great surf so do your research and youll have a great time but remember if its got a name it worth looking into

This period is early season prime time for Queensland and northern NSW. You can expect excellent surf in warm water in hundreds of good spots between, say, Coffs Harbour and Noosa.
