Beginners Spots in Margaret River« on: August 02 2006 05:08:00 »
I am coming over to W Australia at the beginning of December. I have been surfing in Scotland for the last year but am definetely still a beginner. Also I will be with two absolute beginners (my wife and a friend).
We plan to go down to Margaret river and was wondering if anyone could suggest some specific spots to suit us. A nice mellow break around waist high (and not much more than overhead at most) with a long ride would suit me fine. Obviously a beach break or a fairly safe reef break would be nice. I know a lot of this will depend on conditions but given the time of year can anyone suggest some spots?

You can try redgate, a few kms south of Margaret main break.
It's a small beach break (not so many around!) and it is not too crowded. It is not very long though.
Another option is injidup car park about 20 km north of the main break. It is a beach break too, but it can be very nice. When big on other sopts, it can become crowded.

Go to Huzzas mate in Cowarumup bay. Perfect spot to learn. Just look out for all of the blowins from Victoria claiming to be locals.
