I wouldnt live in vic for a year if your a surfer, the sad overcast uk style weather will be a bit much, and there's nothin much else apart from bells
Melbourne is australia's premier clubbing city, I have to admit even tho I live in syd, so if your into clubbing definitely check out melbourne
I'd live in syd for a while, prolly stay in bondi, then head up the coast stay in byron for a bit,
then head up to the gold coast, maybe check out WA for a bit sometime as well
When are you moving to aus?

If u live down south of West Aussie in the Margaret River region u are gonna get all the surf u want pretty much all year round.
Don't worry too much about localism as its pretty KooL in most spots except for Jakes at Kalbarri, but even there as long as u give respect you'll be rite - Have fun mate!!

go north man, there's no waves south of NSW! Every one, don't come down here, there's nothing to surf...just head north.                                                     What a shame the weather is really bad down here and the waves suck. We are also ugly, so stay away! Go to NSW, QLD and WA..................................(laughs)

wa mate. check the size of our coast. we've got the lot. clops and rons on the south coast for the nuts, the consistency of the sw (margs), the warmth and all round sickness of up north. perth metro sucks tho so i wouldnt suggest living there if u did choose wa solely for its surf.

Depends what state your in, if your in an intoxicated state the waves aren't so good.

If you are in a healthy state any waves are good.
