Queensland surfing in July-August?« on: April 29 2007 23:04:00 »
I'm on exchange in Oz and plan to spend my last two months (July and August) just living on the beach and surfing somewhere. I was basically looking at the Sunny Coast or the Gold Coast. Does anyone know which one has better surf in Winter-Spring time? Any other recommendations as which locality might be the best to stay?

If u want better surf then I'd lean towards the Sunshine Coast but if u want more nitelife etc then I'd stay on the Goldy.

the gold coast copes more south swell, the sunshine coast is blocked by south swell by (i think) morton island. the summer months are the cyclone season. if you can hook into one off those then get ready for the swell off your life. i would hit the sunshine it has a more laid back vibe
