Board Backbacks?

Planning a trip to the coast next year.  Backpacking from Hostel to Hostel along the coast and hitting up several surf spots along the way.  Anyone have tips on gear to strap a board on a backpack for an easier hike?

Also, any tips on Hostels or places to stay along the coast for broke students!!! :o)

RE: Board Backbacks?

I 've seen some signs at hostels YHA Coofs Harbour others at Byron to work for your stay. One guy said he worked for 2 hrs at Coofs Harbour for one nights stay.
I used to find it good to garry my board on my head as a sun shelter.  ( It's perhaps why I am able to walk at times with it balanced on my head these days.

I thinking of selling my car and geting into going on foot again.  Cars seem to create so much noise.

I push biked into Macksville from Scotts Head last Monday and god you sure notice how much noise cars produce.

Where's all the noise go. Global noising ?
