Best place to stay - close to Melbourne - close to waves?« on: May 05 2005 13:05:00 »
I am going to be moving to Melbourne soon; but noticed, from a map, that the city is quite a distance from the surfing beaches. Where is the best place to live which is relatively close to Melbourne (~ 30min drive), but not too far from a decent surfing beach?
Thanks for the help!

south eastern suburbs such as : narre warren, berwick endeavour hills are all about 30mins from the city. (lost more in peak hour) and about 1 hr from philip island, heaps of options on any winds and swell and about 45 mins to pt. leo and flinders.
hope that helps mate

probably frankston area would be best place to stay.can get a train in to the city or fight the traffic by car.
the surf is only 30min away such as pt leo flinders or if you want the beach breaks go to gunammatta, rye those sort of waves, these places are great to surf offering great rides and can handle some great swell
