What is the best NSW surf spot?« on: February 07 2008 23:02:00 »
A mate of mine is coming to Sydney, he's a pretty experienced surfer, and he wants to know:
1. The best surf spot in Sydney
2. The best surf spot 1 hour or less out of Sydney
Thank you for any suggestions and opinions

I've checked a few websites, including this one. They all contradict though - Certain breaks rated 8/10 on this website are rated 5/10 on others. Plus, it's always good to get some personal opinions and favourites.

Ours!Shark Island! I dont wanna kill him. I'm thinking of more the less suicidal spots, where the waves break well and frequently, and is not too crowded. North Narrabeen, or Long Reef perhaps?

the best waves in nsw arent in Sydney, might have to spend a bit more than an hour to get them. Why not drive a few hours north or south and find some less crowded and quality waves ??? do a couple of days and make a trip of it...

What about the shoulder at Shark Island.
Been a lot of waves lately
I feel you'd get respect from the locals at the break.
( I don't know though)
I've been geting some good waves with my grey beard and not hassling but have had some bad vibes from locals and mal riders. I carn't believe I don't get respect as I haven't been at all greedy and don't even go out at times to give the others a go. I suppose it's Karma / not anything else.
