Study Abroad - U of Newcastle or U of Wollongong

« on: March 12 2008 21:03:00 »

I am studying in OZ next fall, and I wanted some local opinions on which is the better uni for surf.  I am a beginner/intermediate surfer, so I'm looking for waves suited for my ability and the less crowded the better.  Thanks.

UOW for sure - great surf all around and easy to access the surf spots - train line runs through down the coast to areas like Kiama and Gerringong

Thats a really hard one. Both have really similar populations, and both have long stretches of beach with a few point breaks. So both would be equally crowded and have a variety of breaks for different skill levels. I would be leaning towards Newcastle, but it really doesn't matter either way.
