Move down to a Fish??

« on: May 05 2008 19:05:00 »

Hi Guys  I am currently riding a mini mal at the moment and still trying to get better. i can pop up easy now and wants to go down to a Retro fish.Would this be a good move coz i want a  short board that acts like a mini mal. Can anyone suggest me with the dimension of the fish that would be suitable for me.

Thats like saying you want a Ford Escort that drives like a Bedford bus. Borrow a shortboard first to see what your in for. At least save your cash until you stop calling getting to your feet 'popping up'.
P.S Could put you onto a shaper who makes shortboards that go like mals though.

I got my son a 6' Fish awhile ago at Scotts Head and I found it easier to ride than my 6 '8".
A " Wizstix"  with  big type bevel rails.

Om Shanti

Hi Ra can you tell me if the shaper is in Sydney and how much does he make boards for?

No the shaper comment was a joke. Try something with very little rocker and wide based fins. The dimensions depend on what you want the board to do exactly, how the wave is breaking and also your weight.

Hi, I recently bought a fish and i love it. Fast, loose and easy to catch waves. Best thing for you to do is have a talk with an experienced shaper that you have faith in, tell him what your needs are and go from there.

U guys should learn to do Eskimo rolls. ( Just don't rub noses)
Ha

I used to be good at it and time the breaking wave to help spin me back up like a waterwheel.
Got used to duck diving and lost the Eskimo0 trip .
Just don't go to the Quack. Persist and the ability U won't lack.
Aloha
