Hi Guys, Im moving to Gladstone soon, about 550km north of Brisbane, 110km south east of Rockhampton. am a pretty new surfer, and have been surfing in NEwcastle. I heard there arent much surfable waves north of Surfer's Paradise. ANyone live around this areaknow of a good and close place maybe within 2 hours drive of Gladstone?

went to agnes water. it was awfully flat on the day. when does it ge tbetter, and where can i get a good surf report on conditions in these areas?
are any of the surfing beaches around yeppoon patrolled?

yep, agnes is all there is, apart from offshore reefs which are no place for beginners.... apart from that, you can drive down to the sunshine coast (about 4 hours away...)

Yeah champ, your best bet would be 1770/Aggie or even sunny coast.. Yeppoon has 9 Mile/Farnborough but seldom see a decent swell unless it's cyclone and even then it's pretty messy. If your extremely lucky and it's f**king windy, you'll get a rideable wave at Kemp. Main beach is the only patrolled beach

A lot of people from Nimbin, Brisbane etc are going to Yepoon around now to peaceful protest about war games in the pristine area. Chi Tent up at the venue etc.

Agnes is the go but not great, grew up in Gladdo and you have to wait many a month for a cyclone or something. If you're super keen you could explore the outer reefs or some of the islands.
