Intermediate Sydney Spots

I'm a mid-level surfer visiting from the states and I'm gonna be in Sydney before heading up to Brisbane. While I'm in Sydney, where should I go? I need spots that I can access using public transport or a cheap taxi. Any help?

hey man.
Places that are easily accessible include bondi, tamarama, bronte (eastern suburbs).  They are close to the city and there is plenty of accommodation around (backpackers to 5 star). Bondi is however extremely crowded in summer, especially with english backpackers - so there are plenty of them for you to run over.  As for brisbane - its inland so you wont get surf there.  Head one hour south of brisbane (driving) and you will find the gold coast (plenty of good surf spots there).
