RE: how cold is it on the west coast of Oz wetsuit???« Reply #1 on: June 06 2009 10:06:00 »
very cold in west oz!!!! u need 2" thick wetsuite with a electric steam motor in the front and a defroster for the legs. Also on your head , you need a thick woollen knitted beany to keep your ears warm ....."ALWAYS" take hot soup when you go to the beach ! There's plenty of waves but be very carefull of polar bears, they drop in on you sometimes. If the woollen beany gets wet when your surfing, carry a spare one or your ears will get cold.

It is not that cold, but you will need a wetsuit in winter, preferably a steamer. You dont need a beanie or hot soup, its not that cold. the further south, the colder, but you'll definatly need a wetsuit around Perth in Winter

you need a wetsuit down south, steamer like he said. it is warm up north but you wont be doing much surfing... not really much swell north of gerralton.. kalbarri and narloo are your only options north and warm but you better pack your gonads... goodluck.
perth is a dissapoinment and anybody that says there are waves there are just hopefull locals coz it is shitty shories garrenteed to break your back or your board (if it isn't a lake). skip perth and head straight south if you want good waves... enjoy surfing the west oz coast!!!!
