caravan & surf in Australia

Hello, we are mid 50's couple and we are renting a Caravan possibly at Brisbane and plan to surf, hopefully all around.
We are looking for places to stay at caravan parks that are close by the beaches and if any one has information to pass on, we'd gladly love to hear from you..He has been surfing since age 12/13 in Santa Cruz,Ca and I am just tagging along. I don't want to go into buying alot of maps, books, magazines just to waste needless money,I was told our cellphones would be useless in Oz, and I am not sure about bringing my laptop and if my USB Wireless would work there.
I guess we are renting from Wicked Caravan to do the camping and traveling and don't have much access to look at endless websites regarding where to camp and surf.

Thanks for your time!

RE: caravan & surf in Australia

Macas Farm is fairly cool place to stay out at Main Arm out from Mullimbimby what is about 30 mins west of Byron Bay.  You can chill out at the place and probally get into the surf feeling refreshed  instead of staying right in Byron what is expensive.  Broken Head caravan Park is real good just to the south of Byron with some real good local breaks.
