they hire stuff all year round in australia,you should try the mornington peninsula,its bout 1 hr drive from melbourne city...try www.swellnet.com.au will give u a 5 day forecast of victoria and list most popular places...point leo area is the best for beginers but u need a big swell and westerly wind,or for more experianced try gunnammata or rye...hope that helps...
