I recommend Hideaway on the mainland, its not 5 star but is quite pleasant, plenty of child friendly staff, paddle out to a nice fast right hander, only surf 1 hour either side of high tide though. Other options are Tavarua (usually booked up 2 years ahead...), Namotu (about a year on bookings but sometimes there is a space, or stay on Malolo Island (Plantation, Likuliku etc.) and catch a boat to Wilkes every day. Plenty of other places to stay near breaks but they aren't in the luxury end of the market :)

there are many good places that you can stay in but are not close to surf. Sonaisali or anywhere in Denarau like Raddison/sheraton etc are luxury accommodation and Fiji Surf can pick your husband up to take you surfing. there is also boards for hire if he does not want to bring his own ... call Fiji Surf on (679) 9928411. You could try the Maqai Beach Eco Lodge. Its a laid back sorta deal with a couple of decent breaks out front. Only opened about a year ago. On an island in the NE.

Plantation Is is good for the surf and kids. Not sure what u consider luxury tho. Does that exist with a 1yo. If you cant relax there u got probs. Take 1 for the team.
