Legit Surf Camp« on: April 10 2012 20:04:00 »
I'm looking for a surf camp that's serious about teaching their students everything there is to know about surfing. I want to learn all the basics from technique to how to read a swell report. I live in Sydney and it's not necessary for the camp to be based in the city, but it would be a plus.

I've been in a surf camp with AustralianSurfTours recently (http://australiansurftours.com.au) and I'm glad i did because they really focus on the surf. We learned enough during the weekend to go surfing by ourselves (or with a friend) after : basics surf skills like how to stand up and turn, but also understanding the ocean and weather conditions. Teacher/Student ratio was good so i had all the attention I needed (and trust me I needed a lot, surfing wasn't in my DNA hehe^^).
Staff was very nice.I kept contact with them so they still help me with some surf related questions: surf report when I'm not sure, choice of my first board (hiiiihaa),..
the trip is not in sydney but their office is there
hope it helps and you will find the surf camp that fits you

I could take you on trips away in Sydney or NSW if you like.
Write me an email im on holidays at the moment.
I have been surfing since 1988 and know a lot about surf forecasting, predicting which spots are going to be good etc and surfing, surfboard design etc.

I was a Vegan for Ten yrs working 3 days a wk and surfing nearly all the rest. When I was Vegan I used to just go to the best surf just by instinct. I don't know how it would just happen.
So as far swell prediction goes it can just change. I was also a pro fisherman for a few yrs on Frazer Island and around Noosa yrs before being a Vegan and I used to get a lot of waves as a Vegan in remote locations and populated.
