car rental

Coming over in february for the 9th time, just wondered if anyone had a cheap car for a month instead of paying loads to the hire companies.

RE: car rental

Ask locals. Once you make friends, anything is possible there. Local rates are around $500 bajan a week. Remember, if you mess up a locals car, you have to get it fixed. This year we got a window broken but they only stole $19. Drove to Corbin's, got a used one for $40, and put it in myself. You also have to keep it better than your own. We wash and detail ours before bringing it back. Cars are expensive there. If your not familiar with the island, use a big company and get insurance. The roads ae crazy.
Also, factor gas. Its expensive. Sometimes paying $750 is worth it for a newer car with great mileage(if your going to drive a lot). You can sometime negotiate with the big companies if your staying for 2 weeks or longer and save $50 a week.
