i#m heading to floripa next march and want to know which is the best spot for beginners, i.e. wave height: 1 metre and not too strong currents.
can you buy used boards there?
thanx for any information

Try Campeche, Matadeiro or Joaquina, left side. The locals will love you

best spot by far for beginners is Barra da Lagoa, just north of Praia Mole beach.
no need to bring any weed or anything like that.
the post re: joaquina and matadeiro is not being serious -- those are some of the few beaches (there are 42 total on the island) where the locals can be a bit testy, so better not to start there for beginners.
in barra there are a bunch of surf schools, gentle swells, and chest deep water, so perfect for learning. many of the surf school instructors only speak portuguese, but check with Nexus Surf for english speaking ones who are really good and well-qualified. cheers!

Santinho North is perfect for you. It pumps better with north east southeast swell and northeast or west wind. Do not go there with south wind. Perfect environment and very fun, perfect waves for all levels.
