Surfing Nordeste

« on: September 16 2004 05:09:00 »

HI,

I am thinking of heading out to Recife some time at end of December/beginning of January.

I am not very experienced, so am looking for any info about Surf Schools in the area and any tips people can give me would be most welcome.

Cheers

Asmara

Helo Asmara,

I was in recife and the only thing I can tell you is dat it's better not tosurf there because there is danger for sharkattacks. When I was there a men lost an arm and a leg! The warnings arealloverthebeach,Boa Viagem and I believe praya Perna (I'm not sure)
If you go anyway,please becarefull!
Or take a bus to Porto da Galinhas....nice surf and nice village.

Peace!

Hi Asmara,

you shouldn't surf in Recife because of the sharks, but you can go to Fernando Noronha Island where you can get some real good waves in such an amazingly beutiful place, or as Niq told you before, just head down to Porto de Galinhas where you can find some nice waves with nice people also. In Porto de Galinhas, I would recommend the MaracaĆpe beach, where some contests take place.
Enjoy and have fun!

Do you guys have any specifics about good surf spots, pousadas, buggy rentals in natal/fortaleza/fernando de noronha? I've been from natal to sergipe and loved it.  praia dos frances near maceio was beautiful- so was maracaipe. if you are limited in time and funds and want to surf a lot, stick to porto de galinhas and maracaipe
