just got back from Floripa, spent 3 weeks there... and didn't want to go home ever again.
the surf was actually pretty damn good, i was pleasantly surprised. the parties there are amazing there too, never seen antyhing like it. need to learn some portuguese before i go back though, not many locals speka ingles.
i stayed with nexus surf in praia mole, it was perfect way to see the island (tough to figure out solo b/c very spread out, need a local to know when/where things are going on).
floripa reminded me of california, but in the pictures from 1965 or something -- really beautiful place, different from anywhere i've ever traveled before...

Rio has some pretty good waves...
The South east area where some beatifull beaches are located...Prainha, Macumba, Grumari.... this area is certainly the best for surfing another thing is the warm water pretty much all year around..... plus you can get the unreal nighlife of Rio... Lapa is pretty good and there are some many chicks...
I was hanging with Kat from a Surf Tour in Rio... ask for her for advise further...
