Hi,I`m a local surfer from Rio and here is a very good city for surfing! You have many kinds and sizes of waves. About learning I think you sholwd go to Barra da tijuca is a very big beach whith nice waves ( once there were a WCT competition there) You can find surf scolls all over this beach.
