Getting around?« on: November 04 2005 11:11:00 »
I will be arriving in Rio mid-December. I will be staying in brazil about a month. I want to do as much surfing as possible, while doing other things like sight-seeing, etc. What I am wondering about is how practical it is to transport surfboards on the buses from one city to another. For example, I will likely be riding a bus from Rio to Salvador- would it be feasible to take a short-board on such a bus? Does anyone have any experience traveling brazil with a board on the buses?

hey man waz up
i hope that you enjoy brazil. i can sure you that travel with boards will not be a problem, unless if you are with more than 2 boards, that i thinks is the limit around.
you may start to think to get a board here, if you are american, in us dollars a good board is gonna cost you not more than 250 dollars, i think that is not that much isn´t ?
nice travel !

You shouldnt have a problem at all on the buses there. The bus system is good.
Do you think you'll stop by Itacare? If you're going to Salvador anyway the bus may go through Ilheus, where you can get off and take a 1hr bus to Itacare. Salvador is about another 8hrs from there.

Hi Per, go to Itacare it's a nice place here in Brazil. You can surfing a lot and the place it's wonderful.
If you have a chance go to Praia do Rosa on Santa Catarina (on the South Region) it's another place to go surfing and have fun!
