From what I have heard, surfing in montreal is done in a river. That is, a standing wave, which is different from traditional surfing. Rocks can be hazardous, but it seems a number of people do it and enjoy it, so talk to some local surfers about further details.

Hey... weird but I am a Mcgill student too. I surfed there until about October this year. Give me a shout and I will tell you all about it, and show you around in the spring. Good luck on exams.

Hey, I am a McGill student as well.  I surfed a few times in Ireland last year and I've gone on two trips this past fall to Maine.  I've heard about surfing Habitat 67 but I've never gone.  Have you heard anything from anyone about surfing in Montreal?

last time I went to check out this spot, there was about 15 surfers out. It is a harmless wave that is a little over three-foot. If you plan on learning, pick a colder day or go early morning when they'll be less people because there is only one wave to share. But I recommend you to go look at it for at least an hour and see how others are doing it.  I make surfboards that are custom-made for this specific wave. anyone interested, email me.

I turned the water off for the winter, but just turned it on last week again. Though, it is very, very cold. Wear a wet/dry suit if you plan on going out or you will have to wait until may/june until it warms up a little. Cheers!
