Any girls other out there?« on: April 05 2006 19:04:00 »
Hey. I just got back from a year in Australia and brought my mini mal back with me. I'm looking to try some Ontario surfing and maybe some trips out to one of the coasts for a surf vacation. Was wondering if there are any other surfing chicks out there interested. I'm just starting out, but just can't shake the surfing bug. Also if there are any Toronto based surf groups/networks out there would love to hear about them, sounds like there's been a lot of talk about it but not sure what's materialized. Thanks.

I'm totally jonsing to surf, but I don't have any cold water gear... that's a bit of a problem in Toronto I think-- rash guards and spring suits won't cut it here.
Any advice on where to find *womens* wetsuits/drysuits and such at a half-reasonable price? It seems like most of the stuff out there that's heavier than 2/3 is all for guys!

HAHAHA! You sound just like me!
Except I was only in Australia for 2 months. Brought my board back aswell (8 ft.)
Theres a toronto based surf trip company you should check out - trips to cali and costa rica. They are called Pacific Blue Surf Adventures. Also, tons of people surf the great lakes but its COLD - need some good gear.
btw, how old are you and what highschool did you go to? maybe i know you...?

I spend a lot of time in Mexico, where my boyfriend is a surf guide (in Punta Mita), but I don't really know anyone who surfs in Toronto... but maybe after I find a wetsuit I want to give it a try. I also need to buy a board, since I've never needed to own one in Mexico...
Rob's been sending out great surf updates everytime a front comes through, so as soon as I actually get outfitted I'll let you know in case you want to join me for a session at ashbridges or something. But that might not be until later this summer, after I come back from Vancouver Island -- it seems like there's way more selection of new and used gear out there...
What school did you go to? I went to 3 different ones in Scarborough: Macdonald, ASE1 and Leacock.

Hi I am still in Australia and still enjoying my time on my new board. No one ever told me surfing could be so much fun! I head back to vancouver in july and was wondering what kind of surfing I would find there. Does anyone know of any girls groups who surf on the west coast. It's always more fun with others.
I am in noosa at the moment and the surf today is great! I am heading back out in a couple of minutes.
