Surfer based in Ottawa
I ride the standing wave in the river when possible (early spring) Regularly drive to spots in Lake Ontario when they are going off (i.e. Kingston, Sand Banks)
Also regularly drive to Maine, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey (it only about 7hrs) if there is a good swell in the forecast.
Looking for people in Ottawa and/or between Montreal and Toronto area interested doing some surfing and to split the cost of gas and the driving. Want to explore some of the other lakes too.
I have two longboards 9'1". If you have a wetsuit, I could lend you a board. For people in Ottawa I wouldn't mind some company when I go out and paddle at Britanna beach.

Definitely interested Keith. I live in Kingston and looking to surf anywhere I can. The less road time the better for me (new addition to the family), but that's negotiable with a plan. (Great wife who understands the obsession!) No gear yet, but seeking out a board. More of a short board rider myself, but I'll give anything a go at this stage. What level would you say you're at? (Not that it matters) Check my postings at "Surfing near Kingston". Feel free to reply to me directly & we can trade #'s. I'm fascinated in this river surfing. Saw it in Germany & hear Montreal has one too. Like I said - I'll try anything!

I'll be heading back to Ottawa in Sept. after spending six months on the northern beaches in Australia, and they say heroin withdrawl is tough.

Looks like this thread is a bit old, but I'm in the same boat. I'm in Ottawa, thinking about taking some weekend trips down to Lake Ontario when the surfs up and was hoping to hook up with some people to ride share with. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm in the area and make the drive occasionally to Sandbanks. I've tried Wolfe Is. a bunch of times but w/o any luck and the ferry makes it a hassle. Might as well go the extra mile to the county and have a better shot at finding rideable surf. If you are okay with a day's drive I recommend Gloucester Mass-Longbeach or Good Harbor Beach. Let me know if you're interested in a trip to the big O...
