really you can surf on the LAKE... oh my god.. bring it on..« on: February 12 2007 10:02:00 »
Ok ok... so I have been in Canada for 2 months and all but given up any hope of seeing any waves until one of my 3 weeks of shit holiday allowance... then some odd bloke in a bar start telling me you can surf on the lake... after me pointing out that I don't do wind... I do wave baby... all the way.. (Silly colony people…)… He corrected me and advised you get waves on the lake you can surf, daft pommy git..
FU*K no way... So when I got home (and sobered up remembering the conversation) I checked online like any self respecting surfer with a internet connection logging off the p@rn site and hitting the surf sites... and found surf Canada... and well a post about the Lake...
So my question is WHERE, WHEN, HOW... and is it cold..(Joke don't care about cold.. show me a wave...)....

Hey Ricker, all I was saying was that there is surf on the lakes, it's well documented, I've seen it, guys surf it. It's by no means the ocean, but if you surf, and your for whatever reason having to spend time next to one, when conditions are right, you can surf it. And surfing is always fun. And Ricker if you ever get the chance, check out the book Surfing the Great lakes, even the biggest non-believer might change there minds about surfing the lakes.

Listen people, don't push Tom's buttons. He is the great lakes BIG WAVE chanpion. Nobody can take on those two foot breakers like Tom on his 10 dollar 'body' board from big lots. Those two footers have kick!

but thats great you get out there and get on them.

Dude, just ignore the losers on here. It's not personal, and they seem to be everywhere. They just enjoy provoking others from behind their keyboards where they're nice and safe and anonymous. I've never understood what it is about surfing that brings out the a-hole in people... or maybe it just attracts a-holes. I can't think of another sport where people actually discourage others from taking part or trash someone's car for coming out.

I find this annoying that pointing out a fact that the waves in the lakes from the photos dont look good, makes people reply with words like 'kook' etc. I am only pointing out the truth. If I were stuck in the lakes, I would get out on them too but would still admit they are really not that good.
