Surfing Erie/Ontario - Surf Clubs??« on: August 26 2007 05:08:00 »
I live in Niagara, have surfed around the world and am gearing up to get into the fresh scene locally.
Anyone interested in getting in contact with me, feel free - I'm looking to me some locals.
Also - if there isn't a Niagara based club - lets get one going!

Hi. I live in the City of Erie on the shore of the lake. My brother and I surf at Presque Isle. I have only seen one other surfer here. I find that surprising considering that the surfing conditions here are perfect. There are regularly 8 ft waves and the water is crystal clear. I wish I could find some more local surfers. But it is nice to know that you surf and that I'm not alone!

Ann...awesome to hear you've been getting out on the lakes. I got back from oz 6 months ago and have been dying to get out again. I'm in etobicoke...where have you been riding on Lake Ontario?

8 ft waves usually occur Sept-Nov. Just the other day there was a forcast for 12 ft waves. The biggest waves get kicked up when the wind is from the W to WNW and is over 20 mph.

Try Board Sports on Young/Eglington area. Good people but expensive boards (problem with being so far from most shapers).

Hey I am in Montreal but come originally from Ontario.
I just started on river waves but always dreamed of doing the great lakes.
If anyone does have a surfing club down in Southern Ontario that would be great as I come down often to visit relatives etc. It would be awesome to have some people to hook up with or to get info on when to come (forcasts)
