I think PEI remains to protected. It would be a wierd swell to come down from the North to make it all the way to PEI.
It is a shame considering how great the beaches are.
I think that is why NS beaches kind of suck as beaches but arent bad for surf.

i know this post is old...but for anyone that stumbles accross it; the surf in pei...not so good. i live in pei, and i also surf, skimboard, etc. late fall, we catch a lot of tropical storms and we get waves then. however, due to the long flat beaches, the waves break over many sandbars before they're anywhere close to reachable. i've towed into breaks before (behind a jet ski)...but that's it...and the waves were still weak at best.

I live on PEI to, and I never see big enough waves to surf. I skimboard, and when I try to come back in with a wave, it is way to weak. THe waves are also too close together, not spaced out like some places.

I'm from Québec city and I was wondering if PEI was surfable... too bad...
Thanks, I'll bring my skimboard.

Guys, you're wrong!
PEI does get surf! It takes a lot of weather to get it going and and the window is small but when you catch it, it's mental. For those of you from PEI, think about what those sand bars on the beaches between Malpeque bay and cavandish would do when hit with swell..... like Southern France! I was there for 2 weeks last summer and happend to score.... some of the funnest waves and not another surfer for a 100kms!!

PEI is best for flatland skimming
