How fun is stationary wave surfing?« on: March 14 2012 12:03:00 »
I have been snowboarding for the past few years now and I have become in love with the sport. Since I cannot snowboard in the summer I figured I should get into surfing, it is after all the mother of all board sports.
Unfortunately being from the prairies (Winnipeg), there aren't many spots near me that are great for surfing. I have heard of a few people surfing on lake Winnipeg but mostly the best spot for surfing seems to be river surfing (standing wave) at Sturgeon Falls.
So is it worth it for me to go out and buy the equipment if that is the only surfing I have access to? After watching a few videos it seems that stationary wave surfing is not that exciting. What do you guys think?
