surf trip in South America - any tips« on: June 12 2009 05:06:00 »
I'm planning a surf trip with two friends starting in Chile and moving up to Peru. Was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how easy hire etc is since i don't particularly want to be lugging a board around the whole time. Also how expensive is travel since I we are students and working on student budgets. Any other general ideas or suggestions would be great.
Any help would be very much appreciated

I'm doing a similar thing am staying in pichilemu for a month starting in september and then moving up to Peru at some point to fly out of Lima in December. If you need an extra person to share costs I could be keen. Got nothing in the way of tips tho.

Renting boards can be tough, selections pretty limited, especially in the remote spots. You're gonna want to bring or buy, which u can do in Santiago pretty easily. I'm starting in southern Chile in July then working my way up to meet some friends in Lima early August. Looking to join some folks to rent a car for a few weeks near Pichi and Curanipe. Lived in Chile for three years til last August so know a few spots. Let me know if you guys want to join up. Chris - firstname.lastname@example.org
