Where exactly is the surf beach at Arrecifes?« on: November 24 2005 15:11:00 »
I was in Tairona about 2 weeks ago and I checked out every beach within walking distance. There was no real signs of any decent surf at that time but from all of the descriptions given the beach talked about prohibits swimming.
How far from the National campsite is the beach? Please help because I want to return at some point because the area is awesome. Cheers in advance.

I was in Tayrona for the 1st week of January, and the conditions at Arrecifes were really bad and choppy the whole week...But, I found one spot where I was able to surf!!!
You have to walk to EL CABO (past the "panaderia" to the other campsite ~ a 40min walk ). Once there, you have to walk further on to the 2nd nudist beach. At the half-way point on that beach, there is a rock that sticks out of the water, and believe it or not, there is a wave you can surf. You have to litterally hug the rock and there is a possibility to take some rights.
This was not a great waves (short and hard to catch), but it is deffinitely a viable option when all else fails!!!
