Surfing in San Andres« on: June 21 2005 17:06:00 »
I also have the option of going to San Andres (they have good cheap packages for there), even though I think it will be less interesting, it is mostly a place for tourists. Anyway, anyone knows if there are some surf spots over there?? I doubt it but who knows.

I went to San Andres on my sailboat years ago and stayed three months due to catching Dengue there. It was a great place to be "stuck". I loved it and made many friends. SURF? I surfed the south of the island near a restaurant. . . all coral reef bottom and plenty of black spiny sea urchins. Wasn't what I would consider epic surf but it was surfable and there were overhead faces at times. I looked at it many times and saw that it seemed surfable but never saw anyone in San Andres surf. I finally surfed it and it was so-so. I had no booties and getting in and out of the water was difficult. The bottom was definitely not "surfer friendly".
