Learn to Surf - low budget in Costa Rica« on: October 03 2012 05:10:00 »
I am going to CR at the end of April and am looking for good, affordable! surf lessons. I am a total beginner (never been on a board...) and am travelling low budget and all I can find is combined surf camp (lessons + accomodation) offers for at least 800USD/week. Surely there must be better offers?!

Costa Rica is over priced and over rated.
Go to Nicaragua, Peru or Dominican Republic

Well, I am on a trip around the globe and I will be in Costa Rica anyway, so I wanted to extend my stay for some surfing time. I won't be in Peru, Nicaragua or Dom Rep.
I will be in the US (West Coast & Hawaii) but I doubt it'll be cheaper there...

You have to stop by Playa Hermosa, 5 minutes south of Jaco Beach. It is the spoy!

Hermosa is a great spot to chill for a few days. Good, Consistent Surf in front of Surf Inn Hermosa and you can check their live webcam at www.crsurfcam.com. Fun Surf Contests on the Weekend in front of Backyard with a mellow vibe.Great food at Vista Hermosa and reasonable place to stay at Cabinas Rancho Grande. You won't be disappointed.

Costa Rica isn't cheap! I guess to find a surf camp is your best option. They usually charge around $70 just for 2 hour lessons with rental board!
