anyone know anything about buying a car in costa rica? we wanna rent one but don't wanna pay $500 a week... we will be there for januaryand february. i speak spanish well so negotiating will be no big deal. thanks for any info. K

You could buy a car near Grecia , there are about 30 car dealers there , you can find a car from about 3500 $ us and could easily sell it back after. But dont think that you can sell it back for the same price. i have a 1970 land rover that i could sell you for about 4000 $
if you buy from a particular all you really need is to go to the lawyer with the seller, the lawyer takes care of everything.
