Hi Paul, I am working on a trip to new zealand, but am open to costa rica if it does not pan out. I have 2 friends who went last year and it was very cheap. You can rent a car/SUV affordably. I'm sure you can rent an affordable board too, if You don't want to pack your own. Shoot me an email if you're interested. I'm in Portland, OR in the states by the way

Hey, I was in costa rica over the summer and when i went to the carribean they told us you don't really surf that side. Where i was we weren't even allowed swimming in the water because the current is so strong etc. If you really want to surf i would recommend the west coarst (Pacific Side). Jaco has a really reliable swell and hermosa is right there too. The Peninsula is also a good place, mal pias, tamriendo. Quepos and manuel anotonio are good spots. Also if you are interested in a car theres a car company called $35 to rent a 4x4. He also rents cell phones for $10 a day. For more info you can email Dean whose the owner or guy that runs it at firstname.lastname@example.org. have a good trip. I'll be there in the middle of feb!

yo, I´m in CR ahorita. the swell models look good for the Carribean side for the next week or two. I´ll probably be heading to Puerto Viejo tomorrow and then to Bocas in Panama. should be going off
