Boards getting held up in airport?

« on: October 19 2006 20:10:00 »

I hear a story or two about people bringing boards to costa rica and they are getting held up in the airport for a few days. Is this true? Any way around this?  i will be there with a friend and we'll only be there for 4 days.

I had a friend have this happen but it was really her own fault. I have never had a problem.

Her issue was she flew in and then took a puddle jumper to Nosara. The problem is the little plane can't handle a longboard so they have to ship the board by ground via the bus. It was Xmas time and the bus schedule was all screwey. She didn't see her board for 5 days. My advice is to not take a puddle jumper if you are traveling with big boards. Drive from San Jose with a rental car. Renting a board is cool too if you are going somewhere popular but during the high season, boards rent out quickly.
Hope that helps..
