Investing in Costa rica

« on: November 26 2006 20:11:00 »

I am from Canada and a friend and I are thinking of starting an afordable hostel business that catters to surfers/backpackers. My question is, will this piss off the locals? We both love surfing and want to respect the land and culture but would we automatically be viewed as ignorant gringos stealing the Land from the Locals?? Also dont speak much spanish. What would the best spot be, thinking of Dominical??

I don`t think people would be mad, here in costa rica (i live in cr) exists A LOT of americans everyone here talks english, the best place to invest is in guanacaste, i have some real estate near guanacaste`s most imp beaches(for surfing and facilities)( tamarindo, playa negra, avellanas) that can be a nice place. dominical is not the best surf spot in cr..
