Possible to solo camp with belongings« on: April 14 2007 20:04:00 »
Hey. I'm a solo traveler heading to C.R. for 2 months.
I'll have a board bag, 2 boards, 2 day packs, a tent, etc....In other words: I'll stick out like a sore thumb. I want to camp or hostel, but I'm kind of worried about what I'll do with all my stuff when, say, I'm surfing, for example. Are there lockers everywhere? Do rooms routinely get busted in to? All the talk of thievery is spoiling my buzz.
Thanks for any response,

Don't bring anything you can't stand losing. My tent will get riffled through a few times when I camp...there's nothing to take but sometimes I'll lose a pair of shorts. Camp with others or at sites is usually the best way. I take my cash, a credit card, and a laminated copy of my passport into the water with me. Leave the regular passport with somebody in town who will store it for you if you give them some business or bury it in the jungle, or once I climbed a coco and stuffed it in a tree.
