Studying in Puntarenas - Can I Surf Daily or Travel Mission?

« on: June 28 2007 01:06:00 »

I'm looking at a semester or 2 in Puntarenas, and I'm wondering how accessible the surf really is? Will I be able to make it to a wave every day or is it more of a weekend mission if I've got time?

I reccomend the program. Yes there are two breaks in the area...Boca Barranca and the other.Do your research. It is close, a little dirty, but it gets super fun, sometimes even big(not hawaii big). You will want to travel on the weekends because the really good breaks are located elsewhere. There is a bus to both spots.Sometimes the ticos get a little hot about the boards but is not a big deal. Hope you like Ceviche and watch out for the local gringo slayers, they go after a new guy and "love" him like they've never loved someone before.
