take a shuttle plane from SJO to Tamarindo, will take around 45 minutes flying time. Next quickest is hire a taxi, will cost about the same as the flight, but will take around 7 hours.

There are smaller jets that run from San Jose Airport to Tamarindo area (1 hour flight---tops) that are reasonable considering time is a factor....(just what you want to do jump on another plane) Otherwise I sugest a company who runs vans to Tamarindo (5-6 hours) (might run around 50.00 U.S.). Suggestion: Local Bus (5-6 hours?)transportaion is often sold out packed and no a/c. Have Fun...Pura Vida.

Thanks so much for all your advice, I think flying is the plan... If anyone is up for meeting up in Tamarindo, let me know, I'll be travelling on my own so it would be nice to meet people!

I live down near Jaco, if you get down that far, post up when you will arrive, we can hit Esterillos for surf and beer
