Public Transportation with your Boards

« on: February 18 2008 09:02:00 »

Ill be in CR starting the 29 through March 20.  Still debating on whether to rent a car or take a bus from the airport to Tamarindo.  Is there room for a board bag on the local busses or are you better off renting a car.  Also, what are some good spots to surf this time of year

I've never had any problems with my boards and the public transportation in Costa. I would just make sure you pack them well as anything can happen on the bottom of a packed bus. However, if you are going to Tamarindo, you might want to rent a car. Tamarindo is a town surrounded by surf spots but the surf in the actual town is pretty crowded and not epic. Although they are only minutes away, you have to drive to many of the better breaks such as Playa Grande, Avellanas, Negra, etc. If you can afford it, go with the car!!
