learning to surf

« on: June 17 2005 09:06:00 »

I have never surfed before and I was looking to go to Costa Rica for a couple of weeks for a vacation and learning to surf.  I am going down with a friend who has surfed all his life so he'll be able to teach me.  Does anyone know if you can rent a decent starter board for a couple of weeks and how much it would cost.  Also, is it a viable option to stay in a hostel for at least week.  Finally, where would be a good place to do this.  Any information would be wonderful, thanks!

Jaco's a good area to go.  Read the lonely planet guide to Costa Rica.
