Witches Rock

Going to Guanacaste in late July.  Can beginners surf at Witches Rock.  Is it true you must take a boat in summer.  Will 4WD get us there.  If by boat, where is best place to catch - Tamarindo looks too far.  Even El Coco looks like a ride.  Thanks in advance for any info.  Rob

Rob,  WR is a fast hollow wave.  It's a sandy bottom beach break so I guess a beginner could go there but that also depends on wave height.  Being that you are going during the rainy season, I would definitely recommend getting there by boat from El Coco (I think it was a scenic 30-45 minute boat ride).

If you have a few beginners in your group I would recommend Tamarindo/Playa Grande/Avellanas area first before heading out to WR.  Have a safe trip !!
