im planning a trip to costa rica early sept
i was wondering how far a drive from san jose to tamorindo or mal pais would be.
also, the most common question....what is the rain like at around that time (beginning of sept, sept 5-sept 16) and what is the water temp at that time of year

september and october are the heaviest rain months, roads around malpais will be a mess but roads in & out of Tamarindo are more or less paved and passable. water and air temps... hot. good thing is those are least crowded months as costa rica has been sooo over discovered. drive times for first timer, approx. 6 1/2 hrs either place.

water temp is always hot !
Drive to tamarindo from San jose is 5-6 hours, drive to mal pais depends on the ferry ! 2 hours to ferry + wait+1h30 + drive from paquero to mal pais 1h30.
