Directions to Playa El Rey

« on: October 01 2008 07:10:00 »

I will be in Man Antonio in a week (i go to Costa 2 times per year) and this time with a few non-surfers.  I am looking to get away from Man Antonio a few hours per day and head to a decent break.  I hear that Playa El Rey is decent.  Does anyone have detailed directions from Quepos to this break?

It is not a easy place to get to.   Essentially you either have to go through the Palm Oil plantations.  I tried this once on my own.  I turned back when I realized there was a crocodile in the steam that I needed to cross.  The other other option that I am aware of is to go down to the Sevegre River and head down that way.

Best to just check into a surf shop when you get there.  Ideally you can find someone that knows how to get there.  I will tell you this.  It is remote and you should expect to have the whole place to your self if you can get there.  Good Luck!
