Crowds in Costa Rica in late June vs other countries« on: May 27 2009 01:05:00 »
Hi all, just sussing out what the crowds are like in late June in surf spots like Jaco, Playa Hermosa etc. Or would you suggest one of the other countries like Puerte Rico or Dom Republic for same quality of waves without the crowds? Thanks

Bueno here at home in Manuel Antonio, the crowds have not shown up! great for the surf spots as the swells are hitting regularly. We have another good one coming in today! Some surfers from Florida, showed up at my rental house yesterday, saying Jaco was good surf but a crowd from heck! could not get a wave. They came an hour south to where I live and we did three sessions, with just the four of us out. Head high and glassy. Of course now that the folks in the U.S.A. are on summer vacation that may change here also but for now it is good surf and only the locals in the line up.and with 7 breaks all within 20 min from my house I can still get uncrowded surf sessions.
But if you want a party town and crowds you should go to Jaco!
Bueno Pura Vida
Manuel Antonio Costa Rica

June 21, 2009....Go to Dominical Costa Rica, it's south of Jaco and Manuel Antonio...Great waves, every day all day...sun in the am's, rain rolls in later in the day right now.You can stay at Arena y Sol, just a 5 minute walk away (or less) for $20 bucks a night(low season rate) and that includes breakfast...rooms have air cond/tv/phone...great spot for budget travelers.
